Using Ring Neck Pheasant Hackles

Pheasants can provide the fly tyer with a wealth of feathers for tying a range of patterns. These are the main feathers of interest to the tyer.

a) The tail feathers. These have been used for many years tio create the Pheasant Tail Nymph, Buzzers and contribute to many others patterns. They produce a very buggy looking body and thorax cover.  We  supply them dyed in a range of popular colours

b) Rump Patches. A recent addition to the tyers armoury the pheasant saddle can provide a useful fibre for tailing or wings.

c) Pheasant Wing Feathers.  These provide slips for tying traditional winged wets – the colours vary from a rich brown to almost blonde.

d) Pheasant Shoulder. These are the classic ‘church window’ feathers that can be used for tailing or hackles, or makita style for tying lures.

e) Pheasant Cape Hackles.  The cape provide a range feathers in different sizes a colours for hackles, tails and wings

f) White Ring Neck:  These feathers can be used for creating white  throat hackles.
